[Back to Formatted Version]
Brief Description: The 'Popow Hotel' (sign in Yiddish and Polish) above J. Wajman's grocery store on Zawalna Street is seen from across an open area. This area was popularly known in Yiddish as 'parshive remize' (dumping place), referring to the place where porters congregate, waiting for hire.
