Born in Tomaszow Mazowiecki (near Lodz), Poland on October 24, 1896. Studied in yeshiva, before engaging in secular studies in Vienna. Upon his return to Lodz, he became involved in the Bund, in which he rose to prominence. Was co-editor of and weekly columnist for the Bundist publication, Folkstsaytung. Went on lecture tours throughout Poland. Was president of the Yiddish Writers' and Journalists' Union. Was parliamentary correspondent for the Folkstsaytung. At the beginning of World War II, he fled from Warsaw to Vilna. From there, he fled to the United States, where he became a contributor to the Forverts. Among his publications are Nowolipie 7 and A View of Israel and of the World, Different, and Left. Died in New York in 1977.
