The Jewish community of Minsk, Byelorussia was represented by the community council (*kehillah*) from the 16th century through 1920.  Under the Tsarist regime, the *kehillah* was in charge of internal Jewish affairs and was empowered to collect taxes. The *kehillah* was dissolved after 1920 when Minsk became a Soviet possession.
