Leo Leonard Hoffman was a a lawyer who served as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army in China, Burma, and India during the Second World War's China-Burma-India Theater military operation, which took place from December 7, 1941 to March 2, 1946. Born in New York on December 4 (or possibly, on December 13), 1906, Hoffman attended the City University of New York and received his legal training at Fordham University School of Law, from which he graduated in 1930. As a lawyer, he practiced law, handled military and civil cases, corporate, surrogate, and real estate cases, 1930-1941. Returned to work at the law firm of Winick, Barnett, and Hoffman by April 1946, as attested to by a notification with that date. Received several medals for his military service, including the "Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal," the "World War II Victory Medal," and the Chinese "Star of Honor." Died in New York on October 7, 2002 and is buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Queens, New York.
