Administrative/Biographical History
Founded in New York on November 22, 1900, by immigrants from Glinyany (Glina, Glinah, Gline, Gliniany), then in the Austrian Empire. Provided relief and financial aid to sick and distressed members, and a free loan fund during the Depression. Helped defray burial costs. Maintained cemetery plots. Donated to various Jewish causes and institutions, including the United Jewish Appeal, the Jewish National Fund, the Joint Distribution Committee, Histadruth, and the Denver Sanatorium. Society used the Beth David and Mt. Zion cemeteries in Long Island and Queens, NY.
