Administrative/Biographical History
Founded in New York on December 11, 1923, by immigrants from Yaltuskow (Yaltushkov, Jaltuskow), Ukraine. Alternately known as the First Yoltushkower Benevolent Society, the First Yultushkover Benevolent Society, and the Ershte Yaltushkover Benevolent Society. Provided sick and death benefits. Established fund for the needy. Maintained a cemetery plot. Supported an old age home and local institutions with $50 annually. Donated to various Jewish institutions, including the UJA, ORT, the American Jewish Federation, Yeshiva College, Histadrut, and HIAS. Functioned as a burial society. Society used the Beth David and Beth Israel cemeteries in Long Island, NY and Woodbridge, NJ.
