Administrative/Biographical History
Founded in New York on January 15, 1916, by immigrants from Wolozin (Volozhin, Volozhyn, Woloskin, Wolozyn), which was part of the Russian Empire in the pre-World War I period (and part of Poland during the interwar period). Sponsored lectures. Provided sick aid and death benefits. Raised $10,000 toward old age home. Supported local institutions with annual donation of $50. Functioned as a burial society. Society used the Beth David and Mt. Lebanon cemeteries in Long Island and Queens, NY.
