Administrative/Biographical History
Bruder Verein #1 was organized in 1858 to provide sick benefits, cemetery plots, burials and insurance. Except for some early deeds involving land in the Salem Fields cemetery (1858) to the Emanuel Congregation (precursor of Temple Emanuel), most records in this collection cover the years 1960-1978. The documents consist of legal and other correspondence relating to the process of dissolution of the Bruder Verien. Other correspondence relates to real estate and mortgage issues
