Administrative/Biographical History
Born in Horki 1872. Settled in New York in 1889. From 1893 to the end of his life published in the *Yidishes tageblat*. His serialized humoresques, such as "Joe der veiter," "Shulem der shadkhn" and "Khayim der kostemer pedler" won wide popularity. He also published articles in other Yiddish publications as well as in Hebrew and German ones. In 1914-1917 he published about 80 humoresques in the *New York Herald*. He also authored novels and collections of stories. He published anthologies of legends and proverbs. All of his books were in Yiddish. He died in 1926. His funeral was attended by thousands of mourners
