Real first name was Arye Leib bar Meir. Born in 1879 or 1880 in Vilkovishki. Lived in Lodz. Settled in Petakh Tikva in the 1930's. Was a merchant. Died at the age of 95 in Beit Hakerem. Related, on mother's side, to Moshe Yosef Glickson, editor of Ha'aretz and secretary of Menakhem Ushiskin.
