Administrative/Biographical History
U.S. branch of the Socialist Zionist Party, Poalei Zion, founded in 1905 at a convention in Baltimore. In 1907 the LZOA joined Poalei Zion organizations in other lands to form IHUD - World Confederation Poalei Zion. In 1912 the LZOA founded a fraternal order, the Jewish National Workers' Alliance (known also as Farband-Labor Zionist Order). In the 1920s the LZOA organized the Histadrut campaign and the women's socialist Zionist organization Pioneer Women. In 1935 Habonim was organized as the youth division of LZOA. LZOA is a member of the World Zionist Organization. It publishes *Yidisher kemfer* (from 1906), and *Jewish Frontier* (from 1934).
