Administrative/Biographical History
Born in 1930 in New York. Earned his doctorate in history from Columbia University. Taught East European and Russian History at Michigan State University. Director of the Russian and East European program at Michigan State University. Author of several books, including "Jewish Nobles and Geniuses in Modern Hungary" (Eastern European Quarterly, 1972), "Stalin Embattled" (Wayne State, 1979) and "A History of Habsburg Jews" (Indiana University Press, 1990). He was fluent in seven languages, including Hungarian and Czech. Died in 1993
