Administrative/Biographical History
Cantor. Began his cantorial career in Dvinsk (Latv. Daugavpils). Studied at the Boston Conservatory. Served as cantor in congregations in the U.S. and South Africa. Performed on the concert stage in the U.S. and in Great Britain. Recorded for the Columbia and HMV companies. Wrote for Yiddish newspapers and was the author of *Tefilot khagy*. Born near Dvinsk, Latvia. Came to the U.S. in 1913. Settled in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1922. Returned to the U.S. in 1937.
