Skalar Benevolent Society
Organized in New York in 1893 by immigrants from Skala (Skala-Podolskaya), on the Zbruch River, Ukraine as an offshoot from an older group. Used Washington (NJ), Mt. Hebron and Beth David cemeteries.
Constitution states that the Society cannot affiliate with a lodge or synagogue, nor support political or economic issues, without the consent of 2/3 of the membership. Also, First Skala Progressive Ladies organization founded 1918
