Administrative/Biographical History
Established in 1915 by a group of Brisker societies to aid the war-stricken community of Brisk (Brest-Litovsk in Byelorussian and Brzesc nad Bugiem in Polish), Byelorussia. Undertook large-scale relief and rehabilitation work between World War I and World War II. Located and sent relief to refugees and survivors of World War II. Supported the Palestine *yishuv* (settlement) and institutions in the State of Israel. Maintained branches in Newark, Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles. Active until 1978.
