Administrative/Biographical History
Theater critic, translator, journalist. Compiler and editor of the *Leksikon funem yidishn teater*. Adapted plays from the European theater repertoire for the Yiddish stage. Translated plays by Shakespeare, Dostoyevsky, Leonid Andreyev, Ibsen. Contributed to many periodicals, including, *Lodzer tageblat*, *Haynt* (Warsaw), *Jewish Daily Forward* (N.Y.), *Literarishe bleter*, *Keneder odler*, *Morgn zhurnal* (N.Y.), *Zukunft*, *Teater-shtern*, *YIVO bleter*. Born in Ozorkow, near Lodz. Left Poland in 1924 and settled in the U.S. in 1936.
