Jewish composer, music critic, music teacher in the Workmen's Circle schools. As a child sang cantorial music in synagogues and at the age of 16 was synagogue choir director in Lodz, Poland. Music critic for *Der tog* (N.Y.). Contributed to various Yiddish periodicals. Wrote music to Yiddish poems and to six children's operas. Compiled songbooks for Yiddish secular schools. Born in Ozorkow, near Lodz. In 1912 immigrated to the U.S.
