Historian, philologist, lecturer, archivist, lawyer. Obtained a doctoral degree in law at the University of Vienna in 1918.  Founded the YIVO Circle of Western Jewish Scholars in Vienna and was a visiting lecturer in YIVO's training division in Vilna.  From 1938 to 1954 Glanz was a research associate at the YIVO Institute. Glanz authored books on Jewish history. Published numerous monographs on folklore and Jewish history in YIVO publications such as the *YIVO bleter*.  Also published articles in the *Yidisher kemfer* (New York) and *Filologishe shriftn* (Vilna). Specialized in the period of Jewish emigration from Germany and from Eastern European countries.  Glanz's topics included the Jewish lower classes and their slang; group relations between Jews and other ethnic groups; and the history of the Jews in the Far West.  Long-standing member of the Poalei-Zion (Labor Zionist) movement and archivist at the Labor Zionist Archives.
