Historian of Russian Jewry. Russian and Yiddish writer. Contributed to many Russian, Yiddish and Hebrew periodicals and also edited or published a number of them.  These included:*Hamagid*;*Voskhod*(Petersburg), whose editorial board he joined in 1899; *Der fraynd*, the first Yiddish daily in Russia, founded by Ginsburg in 1903;  the historical periodical *Perezhitoye*; *He-avar*, a Hebrew periodical, which he edited in 1918; *Yevreyskaya mysl* (Jewish Thought) and *Yevreyskii vestnik* (Jewish Herald), which he edited during the Soviet period from 1922 to 1928. Ginsburg's historical essays also appeared in *Zukunft* (New York) and on a regular basis in the *Jewish Daily Forward* (New York). In 1901, Ginsburg, together with Pesakh Marek, co-authored an early study on Jewish folklore, *Yevreyskiye narodnyie pyesni* (Jewish Folk Songs). From 1897 to 1903 Ginsburg was secretary of the Hevrah Mefitsei Haskalah in Petersburg.  He was co-founder of the short-lived Jewish Literary and Scientific Society which was closed down by the Tsarist government in 1910. Born in Minsk, Byelorussia. Left the Soviet Union in 1930, lived briefly in Paris, and moved to New York in 1933.
