Yiddish writer, teacher.  Secretary of the Historical Section of the YIVO Institute in Vilna.  Member of the executive board, Congress for Jewish Culture.  Director of the Library, Jewish Education Committee, New York. Professor of Yiddish Literature at Queens College and at the Herzliah Teacher's Seminary.  Editor, *Der veker*  and the *Leksikon fun der nayer yidisher literatur*.  Contributed to *Freie Arbeiter Stimme*, *Literarishe bleter*, *Yivo bleter*, *Zukunft*, *Jewish Daily Forward*, *Oyfn shvel*, *In zikh*, *Goldene keyt*. Born in Slutsk, Byelorussia. Immigrated to the U.S. in 1922.
