Brief Description: The collection consists of records of *The Day* and of the *Day-Morning Journal*.      Records of *The Day*, 1914-1945. Consists of administrative files,  correspondence and manuscripts of editors.  The administrative materials include inter-office memoranda, minutes, payroll lists, materials relating to the strike at *The Day* in 1941. The correspondence includes files of the Managing Editor, Solomon Dingol, and of the editors Samuel Margoshes, 1926-1934, Ben Zion Goldberg, 1935-1937 and Abraham Bookstein. Materials on immigration and the immigration quota of 1924, including correspondence with congressman Samuel Dickstein concerning problems faced by Jewish immigrants, 1924-1927.  Correspondence with readers.  Manuscripts by various authors submitted to *The Day*, many of them unpublished. Writers include Daniel Charney, Ossip Dymow, Peretz Hirshbein, Jacob Milch, Isaac Nachman Steinberg, Chaim Zhitlowsky.      Records of the *Day-Morning Journal* include administrative records, 1950-1971, inter-office correspondence and memoranda, minutes of Staff Committee. Correspondence with publishers Morris Weinberg and Arthur Jacobs, and editors Aaron Alperin, David Meckler, Samuel Margoshes, Aaron Glanz-Leieles.  Materials and correspondence relating to specific columns such as *Krumer shpigl*, *Tribune*, *Froyen un mener*. Manuscripts by various authors. Photographs of Jewish personalities.
