Yiddish journalist, poet, novelist, translator. Editor of *Frayhayt* and *Der tog*. President of the Yiddish Pen Club in New York and the I.L. Peretz Yiddish Writers Union. Contributed to many Yiddish periodicals such as *Freie Arbeiter Stimme*, *Yiddishes Tageblatt*, *Morgn zhurnal*, *Jewish Daily Forward*, *Zukunft*, *Der groyser kundes*, *Yidisher kemfer*, *Literarishe bleter* (Warsaw), *Di goldene keyt*, *Epokhe* (editor). Born in Kodyma, Ukraine. Joined the Red Guard during the Russian revolution of 1917. Left Russia and arrived in Palestine in 1919. Immigrated to the U.S. in 1921.
