Brief Description: The bulk of the records cover the period when Briesen was in the German Empire and a small number of documents relate to the period following the town's return to Poland in 1918.       General records.  Minute book. Materials relating to the election of municipal officers. Materials concerning the building of a *mikveh* (ritual bath house).  Correspondence between the community and the Deutsch-Israelitischer Gemeindebund (German-Jewish Community Board) and the Verband der Deutschen Juden (Union of German Jews).  Financial records, bill receipts.      Records of the communal board.  Announcements of meetings.  Correspondence, minutes of meetings, election materials, lists of officials, correspondence with the government.     Records relating to religious activities.  Lists, correspondence, circulars relating to synagogue activities, including documents about the sale of the synagogue. Records relating to the hiring of a rabbi, cantor, ritual slaughterer, teacher.      Records relating to social welfare:  Appeals for aid. List of contributions for cholera victims in Dobrzyn. Conference about wandering beggars. Correspondence and circulars from orphans' homes, 1903-1921. Correspondence with the Central Welfare Board for German Jews (Zentralwohlfahrtsstelle der Deutschen Juden).      Records of the Judischen Leseverein (Jewish Reading Society), 1901-1908, including agendas, lists of members.
